The deal will pay him $7 million in 2015

The future Hall of Fame quarterback signed a three-year extension with the Patriots that will keep him with the team until 2017, according to Sports Illustrated. The deal will pay him $7 million in 2015, $8 million in 2016 and $9 in 2017 and also includes a $3 million signing bonus. Brady's current contract signed in 2010 paid him $72 million over four seasons, making him the highest paid player in the league at that time.
A source told SI that the contract -- $27 million over three years -- was for much less than he could have gotten on the free agent market, but Brady agreed to it in order to help the Patriots and their salary cap over the next handful of seasons. His cap hit over the next five years will be $13.8 million, $14.8 million, $13 million, $14 million and $15 million respectively.
A three-time Super Bowl winner and two-time Super Bowl MVP, Brady has made eight Pro Bowls, has been the league MVP twice, made the NFL 2000 All-Decade Team and is the winningest quarterback in postseason history. He led the Patriots to the AFC Championship game this season before a 28-13 loss to the Ravens ended their season. The deal will mean Brady, now 35, will play until he is at least 40 years old.
